Friction Fire Day
Come and join us at out fabulous 100 acre Kent woodland for the day to learn one of the quintessential Bushcraft skills - Fire by friction.
Our Bow Drill Master Craig will teach you everything you need to know about sourcing and making the components you need for a successful bow drill set, help you cut and carve the set to the right dimensions, work on your body position and technique to help you produce an ember and show you how to source various tinders so you can transfer your ember into flame.
If you are a complete beginner we even have well seasoned pre made bow drill sets that will help you achieve your first ember. Some previous experience of using cutting tools would be an advantage.
The day runs from 09:30, bring your own lunch but we supply tea and coffee and a fire if you want to cook your lunch, the day will finish around 16:30 and you are welcome to take away the bow drill set you have made.
