Come and join us in 2020 for an unforgettable trip to the beautiful Dalsland area of Sweden.

A week of paddling, wild camping and Bushcraft in Stora Le lake, where the water is so clear you can drink it.

This is a fantastic opportunity to explore the Swedish Lake District where you can relax, paddle, fish, and cook over open fires and explore the nature of this amazing area.

We will help with all the travel arrangements and quite possibly will be travelling with you from the UK, flying from Stansted or Gatwick airport to Gothenburg, just a ninety minute flight away, from here it’s a quick transfer to the train station and then a ninety minute train takes us to the town of Ed in Sweden. As you arrive in Ed you will get your first glimpse of Stora Le, it really is quite breath-taking.

Here we can stock up on what food and drink we shall need for the next few days from the local supermarket.

A five minute walk will take us to the canoe centre where you will be issued with your 2 or 3 man Canoe, paddles, buoyancy aids, water tight barrels and maps. There is also the opportunity to hire Trangia stoves, small tents and fishing equipment here as well as purchase Trangia fuel or gas canisters for your stove. If you wish to try some fishing while you’re here you will need to purchase a licence from the canoe centre and everyone will need to get a Nature Conservation Card which covers you for camping and access etc. After a busy day of travelling we usually spend the first night at Canodal getting to know each other over a pizza and a beer at the local restaurant and planning the week ahead.

The next morning after changing into paddling gear there will be a basic canoe safety and operating session to bring everyone up to speed on how to paddle forwards, backwards and steer, how to deal with wind and what to do in the event of a capsize or emergency. It’s a great chance to familiarise yourself with this traditional Bushcraft craft.

Then we will all help pack the canoes and get on the water.

Heading north we will take in the beautiful scenery and watch the wildlife as we paddle onwards, there are beavers, Moose and Deer in the area and are after seen by the waters’ edge.

Over the next  7 days we will find various DANO (Dalsland – Nordmarken) approved sites where we can set up camp, cook over open fires and explore the local fauna and flora as well as practice a range of Bushcraft Skills under the guidance of the Black Wolf team.

No prior Bushcraft or Paddling experience is required but the Black Wolf team will aim to consolidate any pre-existing skills you have and put them into practice day to day. As a team we will collect and purify our own water, make fire, cook food over open fires as well as look at some more advanced camp craft and Bushcraft skills such as knife and axe work.

Along the route there are other points where we can stop off and collect more supplies as needed. Then depending on the length of your trip we will either paddle back to Ed or go to one of many points along the route where we can get transport back to Ed before heading home.
